It is a tricky balancing act to get the right amount of exposure in Hollywood without becoming overexposed. We see it time and time again where the It Girl becomes a fixture at every party, red carpet event or cover of a magazine but people soon tire of her. The public is fickle and when we’ve had enough of someone, we’ve had enough. Two recent examples are Anne Hathaway and Gwyneth Paltrow. Though both are beautiful, slim, well-dressed and talented, they both have been heavily critcized of late and perhaps if they stepped back they would see it might be time for a little break from the press line.
One star that we have seen quite a bit of lately is Kerry Washington, but somehow she has escaped becoming ubiquitous so far. She picks interesting projects like Django Unchained, Mother and Child (quite possibly the best movie you have never heard of but I highly recommend you see it!) and the tv series Scandal to name a few. It’s hard not to admire her fearless career choices…and her terrific sense of style. Kerry goes bold in prints, colours and sequins but she always looks like herself, not an overly styled robot. With neutral makeup and simple hair, Kerry is the beautiful canvas for some amazing designer pieces on the red carpet, but similarly looks fabulous just walking down the streets.
